About Us

Mt. Washington Elementary School is nestled in the tranquil Mount Washington area, a hillside neighborhood located in Northeast Los Angeles, California. The community surrounding the school is comprised of a uniquely diverse group of residents that value being close to nature, yet live minutes away from downtown Los Angeles.

Our students consistently score among the top schools in Los Angeles on the Academic Performance Index. Mt Washington Elementary School's dedicated teachers strive to enable all students to reach the standards by tailoring their instruction to individual student needs. Our instructional approach emphasizes problem solving and learning by doing with an emphasis on the arts.

In additional to a strong academic curriculum, Mt. Washington Elementary School features a comprehensive arts program and encourages students to participate in various activities designed to foster an appreciation of music, dance, and song.

Parents in the Mt. Washington community provide significant volunteer and financial support. Their assistance allows the Mt. Washington Elementary School to offer a vast range of programs which includes Science Lab, Choir, Chess, and field trips. Our school is the hub of the community for many of our parents and children. Families enthusiastically support the Parent Teacher Association, Friends of Mt Washington, countless volunteer activities, and numerous projects.
